Is this supposed to make me dislike Dennis Kucinich? Or is it supposed to make me think that Michael Medved is a foolish and pathetic cretin?

Comparing Kucinich to Hitler is simply ridiculous. However, comparing Mr. Medved to Hitler’s propagandists is not.

Barack Obama appears to be a censor and a control-freak. What happens to your character when you will do anything to be elected president of the United States?

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is tightening the reins on campaign speeches and stressing that speakers emphasize a rags-to-riches theme.

Members of Congress and others who have been asked to address the convention must have their speeches approved by the Obama campaign. In many cases, the speeches are drastically changed — to the point where the original speech is completely scrapped, Democratic sources say.

Obama has long expressed his desire to run a positive campaign, but that approach has attracted criticism from some Democrats, who say the Illinois senator must hit Republicans harder.

Still, the practice of making wholesale changes to speeches has some Democrats miffed. “This is politics through and through,” said a Democratic source who has seen firsthand the degree to which the Obama camp has changed some of the speeches of members of Congress. “Everyone gets vetted.”

Yet not every speech has been completely overhauled. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), who was asked by Obama to speak about the economy, was scheduled to deliver his speech Tuesday afternoon. The Obama campaign struck just one line from his speech, which slammed the Republicans and the Bush administration, according to a Democratic source.

That line, addressing Republicans, read: “They’re asking for another four years — in a just world, they’d get 10 to 20.”

In 2001, the oil companies, the war contractors and the neo-con artists seized the economy and have added 4 trillion dollars of unproductive spending to the national debt. We now pay four times more for defense, three times more for gasoline and home heating oil and twice what we paid for health care.

Millions of Americans have lost their jobs, their homes, their health care, their pensions. Trillions of dollars for an unnecessary war paid with borrowed money. Tens of billions of dollars in cash and weapons disappeared into thin air, at the cost of the lives of our troops and innocent Iraqis, while all the president’s oilmen are maneuvering to grab Iraq’s oil.

Borrowed money to bomb bridges in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. No money to rebuild bridges in America. Money to start a hot war with Iran. Now we have another cold war with Russia, while the American economy has become a game of Russian roulette.

If there was an Olympics for misleading, mismanaging and misappropriating, this administration would take the gold. World records for violations of national and international laws. They want another four-year term to continue to alienate our allies, spend our children’s inheritance and hollow out our economy.

Congress has plenty of evidence that George W. Bush deserves impeachment for misleading the nation into war in Iraq, authorizing torture and other grave crimes, and violating the Constitution – and it is now time to act, says Rep. Dennis Kucinich.

“How many more hearings do we need to have to prove this administration has violated the Constitution, taken the law into its own hands, and condoned torture?” asked Kucinich, D-Ohio, author of some three dozen articles of impeachment.

“These articles of impeachment are about accountability,” Kucinich said in an interview. “I think our country is at risk. We’re setting a terrible precedent for future administrations if we choose to turn a blind eye to the crimes committed by this administration.

He Looks Funny On TV, So What He Says Doesn't Matter

Out of all the presidents we have had, which one deserves to be impeached the most? For some reason it doesn’t seem to be George W. Bush. WHY THE HELL NOT?

Of course, the Democratic leadership will never allow impeachment to go forward, since that would require political courage in an election year.

Besides, Kucinich has a nasal speaking voice, and he looks weird. So never mind that he has been right about the war, right about the Patriot Act, and right about a ton of other issues all along. He looks funny on TV, so nothing he says matters, obviously.

Impeach Bush And Cheney Now

Tell Congress To Act On Impeachment Of Bush And Cheney Without Further Delay:

On June 9, 2008, a day that will live in valor, Dennis Kucinich introduced articles of impeachment against George W. Bush, just as he had done against Richard B. Cheney late last year.

It was truly stunning to hear him recite all the undisputed evidence against Bush himself, which took 4 hours on the House floor.

Even more stunning is the fact that the House at large has still taken no action to actually stand up for itself as a co-equal branch of our government.

Nixon was threatened with impeachment in large part for defying subpoenas. The Cheney/Bush administration has gone even further than that, displaying total contempt for congressional oversight, even to the point of instructing all executive branch former employees to refuse to testify themselves. Only impeachment can correct this outrage, which makes a arrogant mockery of the balance of Constitutional powers. And that is just ONE of the 35 well-founded grounds for immediate hearings.

Congress must act now, or Congress has reduced itself to a ceremonial role under whatever despot may occupy the White House in the future.

The Largest War Profiteering In History

Thanks to the Bush administration we have flushed 23 billion dollars down the toilet. Meanwhile there is nary a peep about Dennis Kucinich and impeachment in the news. The main stream media sucks as much as the Bush administration. Aaaarrrrggggggggg!!! Mad as hell would be an understatement.

A BBC investigation estimates that around $23bn (£11.75bn) may have been lost, stolen or just not properly accounted for in Iraq.

For the first time, the extent to which some private contractors have profited from the conflict and rebuilding has been researched by the BBC's Panorama using US and Iraqi government sources.

A US gagging order is preventing discussion of the allegations.

The order applies to 70 court cases against some of the top US companies.

War profiteering

While George Bush remains in the White House, it is unlikely the gagging orders will be lifted.

To date, no major US contractor faces trial for fraud or mismanagement in Iraq.

Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind, Out Of Our Minds

I was nudged into these thoughts by a recent AP story about mass graves being unearthed in South Korea, showing that in 1950-51, the US-backed South regime slaughtered untold thousands of citizens, many of whom, women and children included, were killed execution-style, then dumped into trenches. It's the kind of human rights nightmare that, had it been attributed to Saddam or Milosevic, would be denounced as fascist terrorism. Yet so far I've seen no serious American commentary about what these mass graves mean, given that the US was in charge of the South Korean military that committed the massacres. Of course, defenders could point out that South Korea was at war with the North, and that grisly actions were bound to occur. But Saddam and Milosevic used the same reasoning to explain their killing fields, and I don't recall many stateside commentators who accepted that as a reasonable defense.

Mr. Perrin then goes on to explain what the United States did in Korea:

Mass executions are indeed savage, but even in this awful case, these killings were hardly the "most tragic and brutal chapter of the Korean War." US air strikes went far beyond shooting someone in the back of the head. The US firebombed Korean villages and towns into smoldering graves, dropping hundreds of tons of napalm in the effort, killing millions. On top of all that, the Truman administration seriously debated using nuclear weapons in Korea (the insane Douglas MacArthur, who proposed that the US drop up to 30 nuclear bombs, was thankfully kept outside of the inner-policy debates). As I put it in "Savage Mules": "In the end, nuclear weapons were not used, and really weren’t necessary. Destruction of the Korean peninsula, North and South, was so vast, the death toll so high, that all nukes would have added was a radioactive exclamation point."

This aerial destruction built upon the firebombing of Japanese cities at the end of World War II, and set the stage for the murderous assaults on Vietnam.

Mr. Perrin rightly points out that many Americans are ignorant of this and other savage parts of our history. This ignorance is upsetting enough, but what truly upsets and confounds me are the people who are informed of this side of our history and see it as necessary and just. With their support, and the tacit approval of the ignorant, the United States continues to commit atrocities all over the globe. The people calling for an end to this are marginalized, mocked, and labeled as kooks. Dennis Kucinich, Jeremiah Wright, and Noam Chomsky come to mind, off the top of my head. The main message of Kucinich, Wright, and Chomsky is one of peace. One of stopping all the killing. Yet they are generally considered to be nuts. Why? It is sickening to me to see them not be taken seriously. Who would choose war over peace, killing and destruction over not killing and destroying? Who would choose the insanity of massacre over the logic of negotiation? American history is filled with examples of us choosing the violent way. We are out of our minds.

I must say that in terms of policy and his voting record Dennis Kucinich would have been my first choice for president, at least out of the people who were running. I also wish that he wasn’t the butt of so many jokes. However, when I first saw this: Kucinich’s Exit Stuns Lone Supporter, it made me laugh.
