For me, as an Italian American woman who wants Pelosi to succeed, watching her in action was difficult. She's sweet and congenial and inherently likable. But those positives pale when compared to her tragic misdeeds. Those of us who value our democracy and our Constitution are too patriotic to succumb to her charm. If only her valor, her love of nation, and her observance of the rule of law matched her likability. But they don't.

Saddest of all is the contrast of who Pelosi once was to who she his now. For a woman who was once at the cutting edge of social progressivism, Nancy Pelosi has lost her way. She has strayed from her former social consciousness into the malaise of power. A sorry state for a woman who 32 years ago was a pivotal player in the 1976 Presidential campaign of radically progressive California Governor, Jerry Brown.

In that critically important campaign, known as "The People's campaign," Pelosi helped Brown push hard for social values. She was instrumental in his win in the Maryland primary. Who would believe that 30 years later, Nancy Pelosi, who'd fought so hard for social change, would subvert the Constitution and enable the crimes of George Bush and Dick Cheney? In 1976, Nancy Pelosi was a well connected political volunteer and social justice activist. She maximized her minimal power to promote a grassroots Presidential campaign.

Today, that same Nancy Pelosi, with exponentially more power, turns a deaf ear to "The People" and quashes their dissent. How troubling that a once valiant activist, at the forefront of social causes, is now a tool of the administration and an adversary of participatory democracy. Since January of last year, members of peace and justice organizations across the nation, not to mention her own San Francisco constituents, have been begging Pelosi to meet with them to discuss defunding and ending the war in Iraq and impeaching George Bush and Dick Cheney. Pelosi has refused their requests.

Stephen Presser of Northwestern University School of Law, asserted there has been no proof that President Bush put his own interests over those of the nation. "For a president to be impeached, he must have committed some grave offense that is contrary to his oath to uphold the Constitution and laws of his country. He must put his interests above the Constitution and the laws," he said.

Jeremy Rabkin, Professor of Law at George Mason University, asserts that any impeachment effort would be unwise. "To put everything on to the somebody must pay for mistakes and impeachment is the way is to make the country ungovernable," he said.

Remind me again why Bill Clinton was impeached.

Congress has plenty of evidence that George W. Bush deserves impeachment for misleading the nation into war in Iraq, authorizing torture and other grave crimes, and violating the Constitution – and it is now time to act, says Rep. Dennis Kucinich.

“How many more hearings do we need to have to prove this administration has violated the Constitution, taken the law into its own hands, and condoned torture?” asked Kucinich, D-Ohio, author of some three dozen articles of impeachment.

He Looks Funny On TV, So What He Says Doesn't Matter

Out of all the presidents we have had, which one deserves to be impeached the most? For some reason it doesn’t seem to be George W. Bush. WHY THE HELL NOT?

Of course, the Democratic leadership will never allow impeachment to go forward, since that would require political courage in an election year.

Besides, Kucinich has a nasal speaking voice, and he looks weird. So never mind that he has been right about the war, right about the Patriot Act, and right about a ton of other issues all along. He looks funny on TV, so nothing he says matters, obviously.

It is time for Congress to stand up and defend the Constitution against the blatant violations and illegalities of this Administration. Our Founding Fathers bestowed upon Congress the power of impeachment, and it is now time that we use it to defend the rule of law from this corrupt Administration."

Impeach Bush And Cheney Now

Tell Congress To Act On Impeachment Of Bush And Cheney Without Further Delay:

On June 9, 2008, a day that will live in valor, Dennis Kucinich introduced articles of impeachment against George W. Bush, just as he had done against Richard B. Cheney late last year.

It was truly stunning to hear him recite all the undisputed evidence against Bush himself, which took 4 hours on the House floor.

Even more stunning is the fact that the House at large has still taken no action to actually stand up for itself as a co-equal branch of our government.

Nixon was threatened with impeachment in large part for defying subpoenas. The Cheney/Bush administration has gone even further than that, displaying total contempt for congressional oversight, even to the point of instructing all executive branch former employees to refuse to testify themselves. Only impeachment can correct this outrage, which makes a arrogant mockery of the balance of Constitutional powers. And that is just ONE of the 35 well-founded grounds for immediate hearings.

Congress must act now, or Congress has reduced itself to a ceremonial role under whatever despot may occupy the White House in the future.

The Largest War Profiteering In History

Thanks to the Bush administration we have flushed 23 billion dollars down the toilet. Meanwhile there is nary a peep about Dennis Kucinich and impeachment in the news. The main stream media sucks as much as the Bush administration. Aaaarrrrggggggggg!!! Mad as hell would be an understatement.

A BBC investigation estimates that around $23bn (£11.75bn) may have been lost, stolen or just not properly accounted for in Iraq.

For the first time, the extent to which some private contractors have profited from the conflict and rebuilding has been researched by the BBC's Panorama using US and Iraqi government sources.

A US gagging order is preventing discussion of the allegations.

The order applies to 70 court cases against some of the top US companies.

War profiteering

While George Bush remains in the White House, it is unlikely the gagging orders will be lifted.

To date, no major US contractor faces trial for fraud or mismanagement in Iraq.

Congress Is Not Representing The Will Of The People

The Declaration of Independence, revered as a document, ignored as a guide to action, needs to be read from pulpits and podiums, on street corners and radio stations, throughout the nation. Its words, forgotten for more than two centuries, need to become a call to action for the first time since it was read aloud to crowds in the early days of the American Revolution: "Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it and institute new government."

The "ends" referred to in the Declaration are the equal right of all to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

True, no government in the history of the nation has been completely faithful to those ends. But no past government has so casually ignored the will of the people, affirmed the right of the president to ignore the Constitution, even to set aside laws passed by Congress.
