Jesus Christ

Kim Davis, the Rowan County Clerk who was jailed for her Christian faith and her refusal to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, received the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) President's Award for her faithful commitment to Christian values despite political and media opposition. Last year this award went to the wife of a pastor, jailed in Iran for his Christian faith.

Tomorrow Kim Davis will receive the Heroine of the Faith award for her courage from Bott Radio Network, a Christian radio network with more than 100 stations nationwide that reaches more than 50 million people.

Our client, Kim Davis, has been an encouragement to us and to everyone she meets, showing how completely God can transform a life and use it incredibly beyond what you can imagine, ask, or think. We are thankful to Jesus Christ for transforming lives. What you see in Kim is a woman whose life was transformed by Jesus, and she will not be unfaithful to our Lord, and that's why she was there.

Can You Say Unbiased?

The Today Show reports on the removal of the head of Jesus. Yes, you read that right, someone removed his head. Yet in spite of this, Zombie Jesus still lives on.

Oh no, NBC Touts Left-Wing Atheist Group Forcing Removal Of Jesus Painting:

Wednesday’s NBC Today devoted a full report to the Freedom From Religion Foundation forcing a Kansas school to take down a painting of Jesus. Co-host Matt Lauer declared: “...a controversial decision to take down a portrait of Jesus that’s getting an awful lot of attention.”
Since when is reporting the news "touting"?

The above link is to NewsBusters. They proclaim that they expose and combat liberal bias. Of course the way for NewsBusters to do this is to use their own bias, like this:
On its website, the Freedom From Religion Foundation asserts:
The history of Western civilization shows us that most social and moral progress has been brought about by persons free from religion. In modern times the first to speak out for prison reform, for humane treatment of the mentally ill, for abolition of capital punishment, for women's right to vote, for death with dignity for the terminally ill, and for the right to choose contraception, sterilization and abortion have been freethinkers, just as they were the first to call for an end to slavery.
No mention was made of the slaughter of millions by Communist atheist regimes in the 20th century.
I call shenanigans. I call logical fallacy. I call red herring. I call tilting at windmills. I call straw man. I call irrational stupid bias. Show me some sort of document, manifesto, or Atheist Bible that instructs atheists to slaughter millions. Perhaps NewsBusters is confusing the Christian God of the actual Old Testament, with some sort of imagined Atheist Bible.

What would Jesus do?

From Would Jesus Vote For Bernie Sanders? by Theo Anderson:

If evangelicals do give Bernie a fair hearing, they might discover that they have far more in common with the democratic socialist than they had ever imagined. More than that: They might actually give him their vote.
I think that Jesus would be mystified by the democratic process. How often does the Bible talk about democracy and voting?

God Wishes You The Best Of Good Buys

“Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” Jesus Christ

From ETFs get religion: New FaithShares funds target Christian denominations by Sheryl Nance-Nash:

Increasingly, people are choosing to put their money where their values are, and that sentiment isn't lost on money managers. Just this week, the first of three exchange-traded funds targeted at Christian investors hit the market. Two more will launch next week.

What Would Jesus Do To Celebrate His Birth?

Would Jesus celebrate his birth with a display of hate and destruction? Would some of those who claim to follow his teachings celebrate his birth with a display of hate and destruction? Of course they would!

From Approaching Holidays Prompt Atheist Campaign by Ian Urbina:

An unusual holiday message began appearing this week in the nation’s capital on the sides of buses and trains.

“No god? ... No problem!” reads the advertisement featuring the smiling faces of people wearing Santa Claus hats. “Be good for goodness’ sake.”
Last year, a similar campaign by the association drew strong reactions.

The head of the Catholic League linked secular humanists to figures like Hitler and the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. The publisher of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” complained about the signs. In Cincinnati, a billboard that said “Don’t believe in God? You’re Not Alone” had to be moved after the owner of the billboard property said he had received threats. In Moscow, Idaho, a sign that said “Good without God. Millions of humanists are” was vandalized twice in three weeks.
Obviously the First Amendment does not apply during Christmastime.

It's Alright, Ma (I'm So Holy)

“Disillusioned words like bullets bark
As human gods aim for their mark
Made everything from toy guns that spark
To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark
It's easy to see without looking too far
That not much
Is really sacred.” Bob Dylan

When was the last time that a standup comic was crucified?

Jesus H. Christ! Jesus has “shit to do” and from the cross he can “see Sarah Palin’s house.”

Salty Salter

Mark Salter is pissed off about McCain’s fucking story. I mean, Jesus Christ, this is just crazy shit.

From Mark Salter on the Press and John McCain by Jeffrey Goldberg:

There was an astonishing quotation in a recent New York Times story about John McCain from Robert Timberg, a biographer and admirer of McCain's. Timberg told the Times reporter David Kirkpatrick that, "Political campaigns have a way of distorting reality and turning political candidates into caricatures of themselves. In some ways that has happened to (McCain), and in some way he may have contributed to that." Mark Salter, the McCain aide who has co-written most of McCain's books, is quoted as calling Timberg's assertion "deeply offensive."

I called Salter to talk about the Timberg quotation, and the Times story - in which Kirkpatrick explores the literary influences on McCain's life (and on Salter's) and discusses the shaping of McCain's heroic image. We also talked about Salter's current view of the press: "I think the media is driven by a need to see this history happen," he said. "And I think they've rationalized it, they think they're on the level with McCain, that he's not the old McCain. But he is the old McCain. He just doesn't know what happened to the old press corps."
Read the rest here. (Jesus Christ, it's where you will find the fucking crazy shit.)

Oh, and Andrew Sullivan has lost his fucking mind.

Now, talk among yourselves.

First, I want you to discuss how the liberal media doesn’t inform you about things that you have heard about. I don’t know where you learned about them, but it couldn’t have been from the liberal media. Say “fuck this” and “fuck that” and “Jesus Christ” a lot. It will add substance to the discussion.

Then, I want you to discuss the party of family values. Be sure to use lots of curse words and to take the Lord’s name in vain as often as you like.

Lead Us Not Into Temptation

Is Tony Alamo just another holier-than-thou hypocrite?

From Evangelist arrested in child porn case:

Evangelist Tony Alamo was arrested Thursday in Flagstaff, Arizona, on charges related to a child porn investigation, an FBI spokesman said.

The 74-year-old founder and leader of Tony Alamo Christian Ministries was arrested without incident at 2:45 p.m. (4:45 p.m. ET) as he was departing the Little America Hotel with his wife, said Manuel Johnson, spokesman for the FBI in Phoenix, Arizona.

The FBI, the Flagstaff Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety were involved in the arrest, he said.

Alamo was charged under a federal statute with having knowingly transported a minor across state lines with the intent to engage in sexual activity, Johnson said.

Alamo, whose real name is Bernie Hoffman, was taken to Coconino County Jail in Flagstaff, where he is to have an initial appearance Friday in federal magistrate court, Johnson said.
Tony Alamo thinks that Jesus Christ was a child abuser.
Asked why authorities were searching the property, Alamo compared himself to Christ.

"Why were they after Jesus?" he asked. "It's the same reason. Jesus is living within me."

PZ Myers Has Killed Jesus Christ

To all you Catholics out there who haven’t heard the news: Jesus Christ has been killed, yet again. PZ Myers has admitted that he is the one who stabbed Mr. Christ to death. He then threw his body in the trash. After committing this horrible act Myers simply said, “It is finished.”

People have been puzzled by the reason “Mad” Myers gave for carrying out this horrendous crime. “It’s a frackin’ cracker,” he was quoted as saying. What is even more puzzling to this humble blogger is that Myers has not been arrested for murder. After all, he killed Jesus Christ, yet again.

If you are not Catholic you may not realize this. You may not know about transubstantiation. It means: “The miraculous change by which according to Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox dogma the eucharistic elements at their consecration become the body and blood of Christ while keeping only the appearances of bread and wine.”

All good Catholics know what transubstantiation means. It means that PZ Myers killed Jesus Christ, yet again. The response from Catholics who have come forward to comment on this incident is, once again, puzzling. The venom directed toward Myers is almost too much to take. The worst of it was when Myers was accused of being a “biology teacher.” I shudder to think of the meaning of this. I cannot comprehend such evil.

Catholics from around the world have come forward with various comments about Myers. Rod Dreher has decided that the death penalty is too good for the evil Myers. Instead he has taken the matter of justice into his own hands and has resorted to… name calling. Dreher has called Myers a “coward”, a “Christian-hating fanatic”, and “Big Man.” (Will Clarence Clemmons sue?) The Confraternity of Catholic Clergy asks “all Catholics of Minnesota and of the entire nation to join in a day of prayer and fasting that such offenses never happen again.” Ouch, now we all know that’s worse than life imprisonment or lethal injection.

Myers himself seems to be aware of his guilt. In what can only be thought of as self-flagellation, Myers reads and publishes thousands of comments concerning his disgraceful act on his blog, which is called Pharyngula. Only a deranged murderer would give a name like that to his blog.

Yet despite literally thousands of comments from Catholics on this matter, no Catholics are calling for the arrest of PZ Myers. It is almost as if they do not believe that Myers killed anyone, let alone their Lord and saviour. This cannot be, can it?

Quote Of Note - Mahatma Gandhi

Thanks to Bruce A. Jacobs for this:

"I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." Mahatma Gandhi
