If John "The Tri-Bomber" McCain can’t properly do the job he has now, then why should we trust him with the presidency?

At the “last minute,” McCain decided to skip the vote, even though his plane landed in DC in time. McCain claimed that he was “too busy”.

Wal-Mart, Environmental Activist?

I am always skeptical about “Big Business” promoting itself about being environmentally friendly in some way. However, I don’t know what the downside is to Wal-Mart and it’s promotion of compact fluorescent light bulbs.

I already knew they were promoting the selling of compact fluorescent light bulbs:

At the Wal-Mart home office, they talk about swirls with a zeal that goes beyond product promotion, as if the bulbs are a pioneering product, a new way of thinking about retailing. Says Andrew Ruben, Wal-Mart's vice president of sustainability: "We realize that we can influence big things. Energy usage. Efficiency. Dependence on foreign oil. And we realized that if we're really going to move things, it's not about our direct footprint--our stores, our offices--it's about our supply chain and our customers. So this is about selling lightbulbs, but it's far bigger. This has huge implications for the world."

However, I didn’t know that they also were pushing for the reduction of the amount of mercury used in the manufacture of these light bulbs:

To reduce the amount of mercury in its CFLs, Wal-Mart worked closely with manufacturers GE, Royal Philips, Osram Sylvania and Lights of America. All four suppliers committed to achieving a greater reduction in mercury content than the 5 mg standard set by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) earlier this year. These suppliers will also adhere to clean production techniques that will minimize mercury pollution from factories manufacturing CFLs.

One last observation; they’re not really bulbs, are they?

Keith Olbermann poses the question: “Pathological liar or idiot-in-chief”? Well, my answer would be both.

It is the nightmare scenario of political science fiction: A critical juncture in our history and, contained in either answer, a president manifestly unfit to serve, and behind him in the vice presidency an unapologetic warmonger who has long been seeing a world visible only to himself.

Political Phone Calls

Why are the phone calls promoting various political candidates not considered as nuisance calls? Are they not also telemarketing? If businesses can’t do it, why can politicians? There should be a “do not call list” for politicians and robo-calls.

We Need A President Who Knows What He's Talking About

That’s not the way I remember it. I seem to remember many voters expressing dissatisfaction about the “war” (actually an occupation) in Iraq. And guess what? I’m right and McCain is wrong:

Incidentally, public opinion surveys do not back up McCain's claim that Republicans lost control of Congress in 2006 over the issue of spending.

Associated Press-Ipsos polling that tracks what people consider the most important issues facing the country picked up hardly anyone citing government spending or the federal deficit as an important problem in 2006. Rather, polling said the economy, Iraq, terrorism and scandals and corruption in government rated highly in 2006.

More To Waterboard

Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain could be added to the list of people who should be waterboarded for not voting against Michael Mukasey. They skipped the vote. They should be doing their jobs in the Senate, instead of running around the country trying to get elected as President. They should put the good of our country before their own selfish ambitions. I would vote for someone whose actions speak louder than their words.
